Q. Why should I buy a bengal kitten from Adventure Beach?

A. Our goal is to produce dramatic, one of a kind bengals.  Each litter is carefully planned and often involves many airline miles to make a special match happen.  Too many bengals are being bred that are bengals in name only and look like tabby cats when they grow up.

Adventure Beach is currently producing some of the most amazing cats in the world, with  patterns unlike anything ever seen on a domestic cat before Take some time to look at the photos on our website... we feel they speak louder than words.

When a bengal is selected, its future owner begins to receive e-mail photo updates of their baby until it is old enough to come home.  As school principal,  I started sending photos to families with children so they could see their kitten growing up. Now we do it for everyone.  By the time a kitten arrives most of our new owners say they feel like it is already part of the family.  Many of the kitten photos on our website are photos that were sent to waiting families.

Don't ask for a kitten to come home at a young age (under 12 weeks).   They must be examined by a veterinarian and receive a health certificate before they join their new families and have at least two sets of vaccinations and all of their testing.

We are a hobby breeder. Our bengals are carefully bred to produce the most beautiful kittens possible as part of our family hobby of showing cats.  Our goal is to improve our breed with each litter produced... not just to produce kittens.

Q. Is it possible to buy a Painted Spirit kitten?

A. We have been working many years to develop beautiful leopard look-a-likes with gentle loving personalities.  We only breed the BEST to the BEST.  Our studs and queens are exceptional in pattern, personality and in type.

We are the home of:

"Painted Sprit" 2004-2005 American Cat Fanciers Association Best International Bengal Cat and #2 Best Cat (of any breed)

"Ivan" 2005-2006 American Cat Fanciers Association Best International Bengal Cat

"Spirit Quest" 2006-2007 American Cat Fanciers Association Best Snow Bengal, Best Marble Bengal and #14 Best Cat (of any breed)

Yes, there will be Painted Spirit sons and daughters (as well as grandsons and granddaughters) available in 2008-09.

Q. I want a stunning, show quality bengal as a pet.  Is that possible?

Many breeders sell their very best bengals to other breeders or to show homes.  That means only pet quality kittens are available to pet owners.  We believe that even our most amazing kittens should be available to owners who want an  exceptional pet to enjoy in their home for many years.    If we do not keep a kitten for our own breeding program it may be available as a show alter/pet.

A good example is JUPITER (below) who is an amazing boy. He could easily have been a top show cat like his siblings because he has a wonderful tri-color pattern, outstanding head and structure, and outgoing personality. We are just as happy that he has joined his Adventure Beach "brother" in a loving home where he is a star out on his leash, in pet stores or wherever he goes.

Q. Do you have kittens available now?

A. We do not usually have  kittens "ready to go home" that have not already been spoken for.  Our kittens are reserved  when they are very young or most often before they are even born. If we do have a kitten available it will be at:  BENGAL KITTENS AND CATS AVAILABLE.

We limit the number of kittens in our home at any one time to make sure they receive the socialization they need to be outstanding companions (we sold less than 10 kittens last year).   We may be able to refer you to one of our co-owned litters or to litters sired by Adventure Beach bengals owned by other breeders that we trust.

Future owners on our waiting list are kept updated with photos when each litter arrives.  A kitten can be selected from that litter or they can decide to wait for upcoming litters until they find just the right  bengal.  We want to make sure everyone gets exactly what they are looking for.  Owners select kittens in the order that they are on our waiting list (the only fair way we could come up with).

You will have your kitten for many years. It is better to wait for the kitten of your dreams.

Since we are dealing with living creatures, Mother Nature makes the final decision about how many kittens are born in any litter and if the kittens grow and do well.  We cannot promise exact times for kittens to come home or when we will have certain colors or patterns until kittens are born and mature (we wish we could!).

If you are looking for something truly exceptional and can be a little patient, we should have some one of a kind bengals available.   They are definitely worth waiting for.

Q. What forms of payment do you accept as a deposit?

A. The easiest way to make a deposit is with PayPal.  We have a link to PayPal on the bottom of our homepage.  You may also send a personal check, money order, or cashier's check for a deposit.  Our address is also on our homepage.  Checks should be made out to Debbie Garcia-Bengochea.  You will receive an e-mail confirmation for your records when a deposit arrives.

Q. How much should I send for a deposit?

A. A deposit is $300 for a pet kitten and $500 for a kitten with breeding rights.  The balance is not due until arrangements are made for a kitten to fly home.

Q. What are the prices for kittens?

A.  Our kittens sold as pets are usually $850-$1800 (based on color, pattern, etc.).

Kittens sold with breeding rights are $3000-$3500 and they do have some restrictions, including no outside cattery stud service and they cannot be resold to another breeder (only placed altered in a pet home). We want our kittens to have a great quality of life...not bounced around from place to place.

Our kittens all go to their new homes with up to date vaccinations and testing and have a physical and health certificate from a veterinarian.

Q. Do you ship kittens?

Yes, most of our kittens fly to their new homes.  We only use a counter to counter air conditioned / heated airline service.

Q. What colors and patterns will be available?

We will be focusing on snow, silver and brown marble bengals in 2008-09.  Take a peek at our THE SNOW BENGAL, THE AMAZING MARBLE BENGAL  and SILVER BENGAL pages on our web site to see examples of these beautiful patterns and colors.  The clouded leopard and King cheetah patterns found on outstanding marble bengals do not look like they can possibly be on a cat... truly living works of art.

Most people searching for a bengal start by looking for spots!  That is until they see a top quality marble bengal in person.  Then we hear, "That is the most beautiful cat I have ever seen...what is THAT?" At cat shows people ask if that pattern can possibly be real. "Did you paint that on?"

We will also have a limited number of spotted/rosetted kittens available this year.

Q. If I change my mind, is the deposit refundable?

A. No, please do not send a deposit until you are absolutely certain that you would like an Adventure Beach kitten.   We have had situations where a deposit was used at a much later time because of a job change or a family emergency. This is not a problem.

When you send a deposit, understand that until kittens are born and have a chance to mature, we cannot guarantee the date your kitten will come home.  We are dealing with living creatures and even though we wish we could control everything (like litter size, how well the kittens do as they mature, if a certain queen gets pregnant or carries her litter to term, ), we can't.  What we can promise is that if you can be patient, we will find you an exceptional family member that will be worth the wait.

Q. Will my Adventure Beach kitten get along with other pets in my home?

A. Our kittens are handled every day from the day they are born (by adults and children) and are raised with older cats, dogs and other family pets...and we think it makes all of the difference in personality!

Well socialized bengals make amazing family pets and companions (see the PET THERAPY  page of our web site).  We will give you advice to help your bengal kitten make a smooth transition  into a home with other pets.
